Mohammed Haneef Atmar is Acting Minister-designate of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. He served as National Security Advisor from 2015 to 2018, as Minister of Interior from 2008 to 2010, as Minister of Education from 2006 to 2008, and as Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development from 2002 to 2006.

He is credited with introducing major reforms to the police force and the administration of the Ministry of Interior.
